1991 VW T3 Syncro Doka — 1.9 TDI AFN, Triple Knob, Retrofitted 4th Door, TriStar Interior

Vanu Campers offers a genuinely interesting Doka — a Swedish Syncro truck body, built up and converted in Germany into something considerably more capable than it started out. The base is an original medium blue Swedish Syncro truck, since resprayed in the green of the Jagdwagen, and a fourth door has been properly retrofitted rather than quickly grafted on. Inside you get the TriStar interior, with sliding windows fitted on both sides. The bed is covered with a steel plate and carries a substantial roll bar, which once held a deer winch from the truck’s time as a hunting vehicle.

Underneath sits a 1.9 TDI AFN conversion running an additional oil cooler and intercooler, paired with a reinforced gearbox and the sought-after triple knob setup — front and rear lockers plus decoupler, all in working order. The timing belt has recently been replaced and the engine runs well. Suspension is lifted on Seikel springs with Old Man Emu shocks, riding on 15″ Mercedes rims with BF Goodrich All Terrains.

The underbody is healthy, which is the part that matters most on these trucks. The paint, on the other hand, shows imperfections all round — and that is precisely the point. This is not a trailer queen. It is a Doka you can take out, put to work and genuinely enjoy off road, where the TDI makes it seriously good fun. The truck drives well and was registered until recently, with German TÜV still valid.
